Lawrence Mainez
Lawrence Mainez was appointed to the District Board of Directors on November 3, 2015, and took office on December 7, 2015, where he currently serves as the Board Chair and participates on standing committees. Prior to being appointed to the Board, he served as a commissioner on the Lake Arrowhead Municipal Advisory Council (LAMAC) from February 2010 to November 2013.
Lawrence has been a full-time resident of the San Bernardino Mountain Communities for 26 years and has two sons, both attended Rim of the World High School and are now pursuing college degrees in architecture and film production. His sons have participated in Rim of the World Recreation and Park District programs since they were toddlers and have volunteered for the District (i.e., tiquando, baseball, and basketball, and Run through the Pines).
He received his Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning in 1991 from the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and has worked for a number of local agencies including the City of San Gabriel, the City of Claremont, the City of Yucaipa, the City of Grand Terrace, and the City of Palm Springs. Lawrence is currently serving the City of Highland as their Community Development Director and Housing Authority Assistant Executive Director where he manages the planning division, building and safety division, code enforcement division, fire marshal, affordable housing programs, animal control contract, tow rotation contracts, and economic development activities. He also oversees the Planning Commission, Historic and Cultural Preservation Board, and Community Trails Committee for the City of Highland. In addition, he served on the League of California Cities Environmental Quality Policy Committee where he helps shape legislation that impacts cities in California.
